Truex Resources, LLC
Truex Resources is comprised of a group of experienced land services professionals.
I grew up in the oil patch of West Texas, often visiting drill sites with my father, Al Truex. As a land manager for Texas Eastern Transmission and other companies he was continually disappointed in the work – or non-work - of people he hired to research title and lease minerals. "Most of them are not Landmen at all,” he lamented. “They’re just drifters looking for a fast buck and a short day's work."
He proceeded to teach my brother Dean, my sister Roberta and me how to run title and lease the right way, stressing accuracy, efficiency and speed. At Truex Resources we require our title researchers to be in the courthouse as soon as it opens and to stay there for six hours before going to their rooms to do their computer inputting and file-work.
All of the Landmen who subcontract with us have at least one college degree. Can any of our competitors make that claim?
We don’t charge the same rate for a trainee as for an experienced landman. In our tiered billing system, our Senior Landmen – those with more than 5 years of Landman experience – are billed our top rate and those with 1-5 years experience are billed $100 a day less.
Apprentice Landmen – those with less than one year of experience – are billed at a still lower rate. We put no more than one apprentice on any of our crews. My brother and sister and myself spend most of our time in the field personally supervising our crews.
Having worked five years as an in-house Landman for BHP Petroleum (now BP Billiton), I understand the needs of a land department. Our clients know exactly who is working on their projects and have their resumes to review and approve. We are proud of the people we hire. Our business is Energy and Integrity.
